 LEADS

The latest Clubwoman Magazine has an article from the 2009 LEADS participant, Bunny Dalton, about her experience at the seminar in June.

Every club should consider submitting a candidate for the Leadership Education and Development Seminar. The objective is to identify GFWC members who have the potential to assume leadership positions and provide them with the skills, confidence, and commitment to become future Federation leaders. We all know that any skills we learn in our clubs spill over into the rest of our lives. This is a wonderful opportunity for someone to grow and develop not only for Federation but also other community groups.

Carrie Lape, our First Vice-President, was a LEADS participant several years ago. She can answer questions about the program and her experiences.

Each Club President received a LEADS application form and action plan from Lou Brown, Leadership Chairman ... USE THEM!

Club Dues

2009-2010 Dues Remittance forms are to be sent to Sally Westley,Third District Treasurer, by October 15, 2009. Include a list of members with complete addresses and zip codes with the dues.

Occupational Therapy Scholarship

The Third District awards a $1,500 Occupational Therapy Scholarship annually to a deserving female student at the University of Illinois Chicago. This scholarship dates back to the 1940's and we are in danger of running out of funds in a few years if clubs do not help with donations.

At our District Annual Day last May, Gail Fisher of U of I spoke about the history of the OT Scholarship and the role that Third District has played over the years. It would be a shame to not be able to continue this scholarship in the future because of lack of funds.

Please consider the OT Scholarship fund when your clubs are making monetary contribution decisions.
